AI Governance (Senior) Consultant (m/w/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential technology consulting organization seeking an AI Governance Consultant to join their growing practice. In this role, you will:

• Analyze existing governance models and identify optimization opportunities in the context of artificial intelligence implementations
• Design and implement policies, procedures, and frameworks to ensure robust AI governance across client organizations
• Support clients nationally and internationally in establishing compliance and ethical standards for AI systems
• Coordinate the implementation of governance processes within AI projects, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements
• Assess regulatory requirements and derive practical measures to ensure compliance with applicable legal frameworks
• Document processes and prepare reports to continuously improve governance structures
• Mentor and coach junior consultants, fostering knowledge transfer within the team

At the Senior level, additional responsibilities include:

• Leading complex governance projects and assuming strategic responsibility for implementing modern AI governance frameworks
• Developing tailored governance strategies aligned with international compliance and ethical standards
• Advising executives and decision-makers on regulatory risks, particularly regarding the EU AI Act
• Overseeing governance process implementation and initiating continuous improvements across client engagements
• Supporting the implementation and development of ISO management systems and conducting information security audits
• Leading strategic discussions with stakeholders and preparing well-founded decision materials

What We're Looking For

For the Consultant level:

• Successfully completed university degree with relevant practical experience through internships or working student positions
• Passion for governance, risk, and compliance topics with solid theoretical foundation
• Basic understanding of how AI models function and interest in their governance and quality assurance
• High motivation to explore frameworks for the safe use of AI and interest in regulatory environments
• Basic knowledge of information security and ideally initial exposure to audit processes
• Ability to understand complex requirements and translate them into practical measures
• Team-oriented mindset with initiative and openness to feedback and continuous development
• Strong communication skills in both German and English

Additionally at Senior level:

• At least 3 years of relevant professional experience, ideally in consulting, auditing, or comparable roles
• Extensive experience in regulation, governance, or risk and compliance functions
• Solid experience in cross-functional consulting on AI control processes and governance standards throughout the AI lifecycle
• Knowledge of regulatory frameworks such as NIS2, DORA, or MaRisk and ideally the EU AI Act, or willingness to develop expertise quickly
• Auditing experience, particularly in information security; ISO Lead Implementor and/or ISO Auditor certification preferred
• Ability to confidently assess regulatory requirements and translate them into concrete organizational, procedural, or technical measures
• Active role in team development, fostering professional exchange, and supporting others' growth
• Confident communication skills with senior stakeholders in German and English
