AI Engineer – FDE (Forward Deployed Engineer)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential data platform organization seeking an AI Engineer - Forward Deployed Engineer based remotely in the UK. This is a customer-facing role where you'll build production GenAI applications, serve as a trusted technical advisor, and influence product direction through close collaboration with engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop cutting-edge GenAI solutions incorporating the latest AI research techniques to solve complex customer problems
• Own production rollouts of consumer-facing and internal GenAI applications from design through deployment
• Serve as a trusted technical advisor to customers across diverse industry domains
• Present technical concepts at industry conferences and establish thought leadership internally and externally
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product and engineering teams to influence roadmap priorities and strategic initiatives
• Travel once every 4-8 weeks to customer sites as needed

What We're Looking For

• Demonstrated experience building GenAI applications including RAG, multi-agent systems, Text2SQL, and fine-tuning using tools such as HuggingFace, LangChain, and DSPy
• Proven expertise deploying production-grade GenAI applications with robust evaluation and optimization frameworks
• Extensive hands-on industry data science experience leveraging pandas, scikit-learn, PyTorch, and similar ML/DS tools
• Experience building production machine learning deployments on AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Graduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Operations Research, or equivalent practical experience
• Strong communication skills with ability to teach technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Passion for collaboration, continuous learning, and driving measurable business value through AI
• Preferred: Experience with distributed data processing frameworks and cloud-native data platforms
• Must be based in the UK; preferred location near London
