Adjunct for Nutrition

BridgeValley Community and Technical College is seeking a part-time Adjunct for Nutrition at our Charleston, Kanawha County campus. In this role, you'll teach nutrition science to motivated students, lead laboratory instruction, and support our Academic Affairs Division's commitment to student success.

About This Position

This part-time adjunct position provides the opportunity to make a direct impact on students' understanding of nutrition and health. You'll deliver content for Nutrition and Diet Therapy (BIOL 245), engage students in active learning both in the classroom and laboratory setting, and maintain the nutrition lab environment to ensure safe and effective instruction. The role offers flexibility while maintaining our institution's high standards for academic rigor and student outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach assigned sections of Nutrition and Diet Therapy (BIOL 245) and related nutrition courses
• Develop and deliver curriculum aligned with institutional standards and course learning objectives
• Conduct engaged instruction that integrates nutrition science with practical application
• Maintain nutrition laboratory equipment, facilities, and educational materials safely and effectively
• Grade student work, provide constructive feedback, and support student learning and development
• Participate in departmental collaboration and college initiatives focused on student achievement

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in nutrition, dietetics, food science, or a related discipline
• Deep knowledge of nutrition science, medical nutrition therapy, and evidence-based dietary practices
• Teaching experience in nutrition, health science, or a related field at the college level or equivalent
• Practical competence with nutrition laboratory equipment and safety protocols
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
• Commitment to creating inclusive learning experiences for students of diverse backgrounds
