About the Role

This part‑time opportunity supports students seeking academic help while providing clerical assistance to the center’s daily operations. You will work directly with learners to strengthen their understanding of course material and help maintain an organized, welcoming environment for all visitors.

What You'll Do

• Provide one‑on‑one and small‑group tutoring sessions in subjects aligned with the college curriculum
• Explain concepts clearly, adapt explanations to different learning styles, and encourage active participation
• Maintain a professional demeanor while building rapport with students from diverse backgrounds
• Prepare tutoring materials, track student progress, and update session notes in accordance with center procedures
• Perform clerical tasks such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, filing documents, and managing correspondence
• Assist with the setup and breakdown of tutoring spaces, ensuring resources are readily available
• Follow all institutional policies regarding confidentiality, safety, and academic integrity

What We're Looking For

• Strong knowledge of one or more academic disciplines offered at Jackson State Community College
• Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to listen actively
• Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and a commitment to student success
• Basic computer proficiency for record‑keeping, email, and scheduling tools
• Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, part‑time setting
• Previous tutoring, teaching, or customer‑service experience is preferred but not required
• Willingness to adhere to a part‑time schedule that may include evenings or weekends
