Part-Time Faculty – Communications

The Tennessee Board of Regents is seeking a Part-Time Faculty - Communications instructor for Columbia State Community College in Columbia, Richland County. This position delivers communication courses on a semester‑to‑semester basis, with a teaching load of up to nine credit hours per term.

As part of the Tennessee Board of Regents system, Columbia State Community College relies on adjunct educators to support its academic offerings across five campuses. The Part-Time Faculty - Communications role contributes to student success by providing quality instruction in core communication subjects, helping learners develop essential speaking, writing, and media literacy skills.

What You'll Do

• Design and deliver engaging lectures, discussions, and activities for assigned communication courses.
• Develop syllabi, lesson plans, and assessment tools aligned with course objectives and institutional standards.
• Evaluate student work through assignments, exams, presentations, and provide timely, constructive feedback.
• Maintain regular office hours or virtual availability to support student learning outside of class.
• Participate in department meetings, curriculum reviews, and professional development opportunities as scheduled.
• Utilize the college’s learning management system to post materials, grades, and announcements.
• Stay current with trends and best practices in communication studies to enrich course content.

What We're Looking For

• A master’s degree in Communication, Journalism, Media Studies, or a closely related field; a terminal degree is preferred.
• Demonstrated experience teaching at the college level or equivalent professional expertise in communication.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to foster an inclusive classroom environment for diverse learners.
• Proficiency with educational technology platforms and willingness to adapt to hybrid or online delivery modes.
• Commitment to upholding academic integrity and adhering to college policies and procedures.
