About the Role
As a Graduate Assistant for Volunteer Engagement & Philanthropy at Seton Hall University, you'll be instrumental in building and sustaining our volunteer community. You'll work behind the scenes to connect alumni and students with volunteer opportunities, manage volunteer records and communications, and support the strategic initiatives that drive philanthropic engagement. This part-time role requires flexibility for evening and weekend event support, offering graduate students practical experience in higher education advancement and nonprofit engagement.
What You'll Do
- Maintain and update volunteer databases, ensuring accurate records and enabling effective communication with our volunteer network
- Assist in planning and coordinating volunteer engagement events, including logistical support and day-of event coordination
- Conduct research on volunteer trends, philanthropic giving patterns, and best practices in alumni engagement
- Support communications with volunteers and donors, including follow-up correspondence and recognition initiatives
- Provide administrative support to the Office of Alumni Engagement & Philanthropy, including scheduling, report preparation, and program documentation
- Participate in evening and weekend events as needed to support volunteer and alumni programming
What We're Looking For
- Currently enrolled graduate student or recent graduate seeking practical experience in alumni relations or nonprofit work
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Proficiency with databases and basic computer systems; experience with volunteer management platforms a plus
- Genuine enthusiasm for volunteer engagement and philanthropic mission
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
