Portfolio Accountant

Join JLL as a Portfolio Accountant in Chicago, IL, where you'll play a key role in managing accounting operations for commercial properties. This full-time position offers the opportunity to work with a leading global real estate company while building expertise in property portfolio accounting.

What This Role Involves

As a Portfolio Accountant, you'll serve as the backbone of our accounting operations, ensuring financial records are accurate, complete, and compliant across our Chicago-area property portfolio. You'll process transactions daily, reconcile accounts, manage vendor relationships, and provide the financial data that helps property managers and leadership make informed decisions. This is hands-on accounting work that directly impacts how smoothly our properties operate and how reliably we report financial performance to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Process invoices, payments, and account reconciliations for multiple properties in the portfolio
• Maintain and update general ledger accounts with attention to accuracy and timeliness
• Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies
• Coordinate with property managers, tenants, and vendors on accounting and payment matters
• Prepare financial reports and statements for management review and analysis
• Monitor property budgets and communicate budget variances to stakeholders
• Assist with lease accounting, security deposits, and tenant-related financial transactions
• Support month-end and year-end financial closing procedures

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; accounting coursework, an associate degree, or professional certification (such as CPA or work toward it) preferred
• 1–3 years of accounting, bookkeeping, accounts payable, or similar financial administration experience
• Proficiency with accounting software systems and strong Excel skills
• Ability to manage multiple properties and accounts with precision and organization
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Reliable, detail-oriented approach to financial record-keeping and compliance
