High Tech Genesis is seeking a CAD Support Specialist to join our team in Canada or the United States. This is a full-time position where you'll accelerate the delivery of world-class printed circuit board designs, working alongside engineers who are passionate about pushing the boundaries of technology and innovation in design services.
About the Role
The CAD Support Specialist role centers on enabling the creation of high-quality PCB designs through technical expertise and collaborative problem-solving. You'll be instrumental in transforming electrical, mechanical, and thermal requirements into manufacturable circuit layouts while maintaining the documentation standards that support our design process. This position sits at the intersection of precision technical work and cross-team collaboration—no two days will be identical.
Your Responsibilities
- Produce comprehensive documentation packages for completed PCB designs, ensuring accuracy and completeness at every step.
- Execute component placement and routing workflows that meet electrical performance, mechanical fit, and thermal management criteria.
- Work closely with engineering teams across functions to identify and resolve design challenges and optimize layouts for manufacturability.
- Validate PCB layouts using ODB++ verification tools and confirm all designs comply with design-for-manufacturability (DFM) standards.
Skills & Qualifications
- Hands-on proficiency with Cadence Allegro and similar PCB design software tools.
- Diploma or equivalent credential in Electrical Technology, Electronics Technology, or CAD discipline, combined with a minimum of 5 years of professional PCB layout experience.
- Demonstrated strength in manual routing techniques and the ability to apply constraint management principles effectively.
- Working knowledge of PCB design fundamentals: high-speed signal routing, impedance control, layer stackup design, EMC/EMI considerations, and manufacturability best practices.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational discipline, and proven ability to thrive as part of a collaborative engineering team.
