Licensed Mental Health Therapist – Virginia

Backpack Healthcare is hiring a Licensed Mental Health Therapist for a part-time position in Virginia, delivering therapy via secure telehealth to children, teens, and young adults. You'll work flexible afternoons and evenings—when your clients need support most—without the demands of a full-time practice.

What This Role Involves

You'll build a caseload of 15–22 therapy sessions per week, working primarily weekday afternoons and evenings from 2–9 PM, with weekend hours welcome if that fits your availability. Your schedule is yours to set. You'll conduct individual and family sessions through our secure telehealth platform, with Backpack Healthcare managing all referrals and administrative tasks so you can concentrate on clinical work. The flexibility makes this ideal whether you're supplementing a private practice, balancing family responsibilities, or simply want meaningful work on your own terms.

Responsibilities

• Complete comprehensive intakes and develop individualized, trauma-informed treatment plans that center each client's presenting concerns and strengths
• Facilitate individual and family therapy sessions via telehealth, maintaining clinical excellence across all modalities
• Collaborate with our interdisciplinary care team—licensed therapists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, and psychiatrists—to provide coordinated, evidence-based treatment
• Document clinical encounters accurately and timely in our electronic health record system
• Support families through psychoeducation and care coordination, addressing barriers and social context beyond the therapy room

What We're Looking For

• Active Virginia license: LPC, LPC-R, LCSW, or LMSW
• Substantive clinical experience working therapeutically with children, adolescents, and family systems
• Comfort practicing independently within a digital clinical environment
• Demonstrated commitment to trauma-informed and culturally responsive therapeutic practice
• Bilingual English and Spanish fluency strongly preferred

Compensation includes $65 per billable hour for fully licensed clinicians (LCSW/LPC) and $45 per billable hour for provisionally licensed therapists (LMSW/LPC-R, with complimentary clinical supervision).
