Evolent seeks a full-time Coordinator, UM Intake to join our Utilization Management team across Australia, Canada, France, Germany, India, Spain, United Kingdom, and United States. In this position, you'll be the point of contact for processing and routing prior authorization requests, collaborating closely with clinical reviewers and healthcare providers to ensure patients access timely, appropriate care aligned with their medical needs and insurance coverage.

Role Overview

As Coordinator, UM Intake, you'll manage the intake workflow for our Utilization Management department, working under the direction of the Manager, Utilization Management. You'll work alongside clinical teams including registered nurses, licensed vocational nurses, and behavioral health professionals to review, process, and categorize patient care requests. Your role ensures that all authorization workflows comply with departmental policies, regulatory requirements, and client contractual terms. Work schedule is 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM PST with rotating weekend and holiday assignments.

Core Duties

  • Review departmental policies and workflows to classify whether submitted requests require prior authorization review or should be routed elsewhere
  • Input request data into proprietary case management systems to generate clinical review cases for medical and behavioral health reviewers
  • Accept and process requests submitted via fax, email, and provider web portals
  • Liaise with physician offices to obtain missing information necessary for complete prior authorization submissions
  • Create and track IT support tickets to resolve technical barriers preventing case generation, following each ticket to resolution
  • Handle all requests with courtesy and professionalism, demonstrating persistence in gathering required information
  • Achieve established Utilization Management Intake objectives and key performance results

Who We're Looking For

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1–3 years' experience as a Coordinator managing prior authorization submissions, or equivalent healthcare experience in claims processing, appeals, or grievances
  • Fluent written and spoken English for communication with providers and patients
  • Ability to work accurately with detail-oriented tasks while adapting to changing priorities and workload fluctuations
  • Proficiency with Windows PC applications and strong computer navigation skills
  • Team-focused approach with strong work ethic and demonstrated commitment to productivity
  • Ability to meet performance goals while managing multiple priorities
  • Prior experience with oncology is a plus

Candidates must have reliable high-speed internet (minimum 10 Mbps) and, if in a call center role, the ability to connect directly to their home router via Ethernet. All candidates complete comprehensive background checks, in-person I-9 verification, and identity verification during the hiring process. Drug screening may apply. Expected compensation is $18.00–$20.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.
