Senior Operations Manager

Wayve, a leader in autonomous vehicle AI technology, is hiring a Senior Operations Manager to oversee on-road testing operations in Detroit. This full-time position drives the tactical execution of our ADAS testing initiatives across the Detroit region and plays a critical role in scaling our capabilities across Eastern North America.

Position Summary

In this role, you'll transform high-level strategic objectives into concrete operational execution for our on-road autonomous driving development program. You'll lead teams, manage vehicle fleets, coordinate testing schedules, and ensure our testing infrastructure operates safely and efficiently across a seven-day-per-week operational footprint. This is a Monday-through-Friday leadership position with periodic on-call responsibilities extending to evenings and weekends as operational needs require.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Convert strategic testing priorities into detailed execution plans for our Detroit operations, ensuring alignment with company-wide milestones
• Track and report on test outputs and performance metrics, maintaining accountability for operational goals
• Manage fleet scheduling and personnel allocation to maximize testing productivity while respecting team capacity
• Lead and direct operational team members, including Shift Leads, with clear task assignment and performance expectations
• Monitor changing market conditions and customer requirements, adjusting operational plans accordingly
• Serve as the bridge between strategic planning groups and frontline operational teams, ensuring clear communication in both directions
• Champion process improvements across testing methodology, safety practices, and team effectiveness
• Work cross-functionally with Fleet Maintenance, Field Engineering, Safety, Training, Data Systems, and Quality teams to execute integrated testing programs

Requirements

• Demonstrated background in operations management within automotive, technology, or similar industries
• Ability to break down complex strategic initiatives into manageable tactical steps
• Proven track record managing and developing teams in structured environments
• Expertise in capacity planning and allocation of equipment and personnel resources
• Strong interpersonal and communication capabilities with the ability to influence across organizational levels
• Comfort operating in high-velocity environments where priorities shift and ambiguity is frequent
• Familiarity with ADAS systems and on-road vehicle testing is a valuable plus
