About This Position
As a Community Support Specialist (CSTAR), you'll serve as a trusted advocate and practical support resource for clients navigating recovery. Working Monday through Friday in a collaborative, recovery-focused environment, you'll engage directly with individuals, helping them access treatment services, build life skills, and strengthen community connections. This role attracts professionals who believe deeply in second chances and are energized by hands-on work with diverse populations in a mission-centered setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver individualized, strength-based support to clients in substance use recovery and mental health treatment
- Assist clients in developing and pursuing personal recovery goals tied to employment, housing, health, and social stability
- Connect clients with community resources, peer support groups, employment assistance, and treatment options
- Maintain regular contact with clients through phone check-ins, in-person visits, and care coordination activities
- Collaborate with treatment providers and clinical staff to ensure consistent, coordinated care approaches
- Document client progress and interactions accurately to support program evaluation and compliance
- Model and reinforce healthy coping strategies and relapse prevention techniques in practical, accessible ways
Skills & Qualifications
- Demonstrated commitment to substance use recovery advocacy and supporting individuals in behavioral health
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with empathy and cultural sensitivity
- Ability to establish trust with clients experiencing complex challenges and vulnerability
- Organized approach to case management, documentation, and administrative requirements
- Flexibility and reliability in a team environment with shared responsibility for client success
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to meet clients in community settings
- High school diploma or GED; prior experience in peer support, social services, or community health valued
