Compliance Manager

Piraeus Bank seeks an experienced Compliance Manager to join our Athens headquarters. This full-time position offers the opportunity to lead compliance initiatives across a major Greek financial institution and shape regulatory excellence in a dynamic banking environment.

The Opportunity

As Compliance Manager at Piraeus Bank in Athens, you will oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of comprehensive compliance frameworks across all business lines. You'll work directly with senior management to ensure our operations meet Greek Central Bank requirements, European Banking Authority directives, and international regulatory standards. This role combines strategic policy work with hands-on monitoring and remediation, giving you influence over how Piraeus Bank manages risk and operates responsibly in the Greek financial services sector.

Core Duties

• Develop and maintain compliance policies, procedures, and controls aligned with ECB, EBA, and Bank of Greece requirements
• Monitor regulatory changes and assess impact on bank operations, recommending policy adjustments
• Oversee anti-money laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) compliance across customer accounts and transactions
• Conduct compliance audits and testing; identify gaps and coordinate remediation with business units
• Manage regulatory reporting and filings to Greek and European supervisory authorities
• Lead compliance training programmes for staff and ensure ongoing education on regulatory obligations
• Investigate compliance incidents and prepare documentation for internal and external reviews
• Liaise with internal audit, legal, and risk management teams to maintain an integrated compliance posture

What You Bring

• Proven compliance or regulatory experience, ideally in Greek or European banking
• In-depth knowledge of Greek banking regulations, ECB directives, and Basel III frameworks
• Familiarity with AML/KYC programmes and sanctions screening procedures
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail in complex regulatory environments
• Excellent written and oral communication; able to explain compliance to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at all levels
• Relevant tertiary qualification in law, finance, business, or related discipline
