About the Role

As a Social Service Specialist 3 with the Home and Community Living Administration's Adult Protective Services program, you'll serve on the frontline of protecting at-risk adults. Working independently, you'll receive, evaluate, and investigate reports of abuse, abandonment, exploitation, and neglect affecting seniors and people with disabilities. Your findings will drive protective interventions, family engagement strategies, and service coordination that directly safeguard client wellbeing.

What You'll Do

• Investigate reported incidents of adult abuse, abandonment, exploitation, and neglect with professionalism and cultural awareness
• Conduct home visits, interviews, and evidence gathering to assess safety and risk factors
• Partner with law enforcement, medical providers, and community resources on complex cases
• Develop and implement individualized safety plans and connect clients to supportive services
• Maintain thorough case documentation and prepare for testimony in legal proceedings
• Manage caseload independently while meeting state investigation standards and response timelines

What We're Looking For

• Proven investigative experience working with vulnerable or at-risk populations
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for engaging individuals and families in crisis
• Sound judgment, objectivity, and resilience when handling emotionally complex situations
• Commitment to client advocacy and person-centered problem solving
• Proficiency with case management systems and detailed written documentation
• Valid Washington State driver's license and dependable transportation
