WDVA Continuous Improvement Manager (WMS Band 1), Full-Time – Permanent, Olympia Central Office

The Washington Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) is hiring a Continuous Improvement Manager (WMS Band 1) for a full-time, permanent position based at the Olympia Central Office in Tumwater, Thurston County.

This leadership position sits at the center of WDVA's organizational excellence efforts. As the agency's dedicated Continuous Improvement Manager, you will build, sustain, and advance a structured program that drives efficiency, quality, and lasting positive change across the department — ultimately improving outcomes for Washington's veterans and their families.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, and manage a department-wide continuous improvement program grounded in Lean Six Sigma principles
• Lead process improvement initiatives from discovery through implementation, ensuring measurable, sustainable results
• Create and deliver training curricula that build CI competency at all levels of the organization
• Partner with division leaders to identify operational inefficiencies and co-develop solutions aligned with agency goals
• Facilitate kaizen events, value-stream mapping sessions, and other structured improvement activities
• Track, analyze, and report on key performance indicators that reflect process health and improvement progress
• Champion a culture of organizational learning and continuous development throughout WDVA

What We're Looking For

• Demonstrated professional experience in continuous improvement, process redesign, or operational excellence
• Hands-on background developing and implementing Lean Six Sigma programs, including training delivery
• Strong organizational development skills with the ability to guide change at scale within a complex agency
• Experience applying structured improvement frameworks to real-world government or mission-driven environments
• Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt) is highly valued
• Excellent facilitation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
• Commitment to serving veterans and the public through better, more effective government operations
