2D Graphic/Product Designer (Softlines & Kids Accessories) (all genders)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential consumer products organization seeking an experienced 2D Graphic/Product Designer to lead design output for a growing softlines and kids accessories portfolio. This London-based role sits at the intersection of product design, licensing, and brand stewardship—perfect for a designer who thinks in finished products that delight children and families, not just finished files.

Reporting to senior product leadership, you'll own CMF direction across categories including headphones, nightlights, bags, shelving, and décor. You'll manage the full design lifecycle from ideation through golden sample approval, working within a structured product development process alongside manufacturing partners and global licensors.

Responsibilities

• Direct Color, Material, and Finish (CMF) strategy across all accessories categories
• Build design briefs for ODM/OEM manufacturing partners and own construction sample processes
• Lead first sample, golden sample, and Top of Production (TOP) approvals against brand standards
• Commission and review 3D packaging renders from supply partners
• Own end-to-end licensor design submission processes for IP partnerships
• Maintain licensor submission trackers and ensure approvals stay on schedule
• Apply individual licensor style guides accurately across product ranges
• Own and maintain Accessories Style Guides as the definitive brand reference
• Ensure visual coherence across entry, mid, and premium tier SKUs in annual pipeline
• Organize shared drive documentation for samples, approvals, assets, and product catalogues
• Collaborate with external agencies and internal creative teams to maintain brand integrity
• Present design routes to senior product managers who set commercial direction
• Coordinate with operations leads on sample logistics, scheduling, and PDP milestones
• Translate commercial briefs into executable design direction for manufacturing partners

What We're Looking For

Essential qualifications:

• 5–7 years of product design, graphic/visual design, or packaging design experience in consumer goods, accessories, lifestyle, or licensed products
• Proven CMF direction experience across multiple product categories
• Hands-on experience managing licensor approval loops with brand partners (entertainment, character, lifestyle IP)
• Experience working with ODM/OEM supply chains and understanding what design briefs need for manufacturing execution
• Familiarity with structured product development processes (stage-gate, RACI-based, or similar)
• Advanced Adobe Creative Suite proficiency (Illustrator, Photoshop) including production-ready artwork
• Strong understanding of material and print processes and specification requirements
• Professional-level English; German is a strong plus

Nice to have:

• 3D rendering capability (Keyshot, Rhino, or similar)
• Experience designing within licensed brand style guides (entertainment IP)
• Background in apparel, fashion accessories, home goods, or soft goods design (toys and consumer electronics a plus)
• Understanding of sustainable packaging and materials principles
• Portfolio demonstrating physical product development, not just graphic design

This role may not be a great fit if:

• Your background is primarily in UI/UX, web, or digital product design
• Your experience is strictly in hardlines or industrial hardware design (plastic toys, consumer electronics, pure hardware)
• You have no experience designing physical products for kids, families, or youth lifestyle audiences
• Your focus has been on managing external creative agencies rather than creating hands-on production-ready artwork
