Senior Electrical Engineer – Robotics (m/f/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential robotics organization in Munich that is scaling its autonomous industrial robotics platform. Our client is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to take full ownership of electrical hardware development from early prototyping through series production.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you'll establish the electrical engineering foundation for cutting-edge robotic systems while building scalable processes that support rapid development cycles.

Responsibilities

• Own complete electrical design lifecycle including schematic capture, multi-layer PCB layout, cable harness design, connector selection, and component specification
• Drive prototyping and series production processes, taking initial concepts through to scalable manufacturing
• Establish engineering standards, QA frameworks, and operational gates that enable fast, focused execution
• Serve as primary gatekeeper for electrical quality while ensuring regulatory compliance and safety standards
• Design motion system architectures including 24V/48V power distribution, motor/servo drive integration, and sensor interfaces
• Collaborate with firmware and software teams on board bring-up, microcontroller integration, and system-level debugging
• Manage DFM/DFT processes and supplier relationships, overseeing BOM costs, component sourcing, and engineering change control
• Balance rapid development iteration with pragmatic quality assurance processes appropriate to each development stage

What We're Looking For

• Vocational training or degree in Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or comparable field
• Several years of experience in full-cycle electrical design (analog, digital, power circuits) across multiple companies, with products taken from concept to market
• Deep technical expertise in Altium, multi-layer PCB layout, and microcontrollers (ARM Cortex, STM32)
• Strong background in motion systems including 24/48V power distribution, motor drives, encoders, and sensor interfaces
• Proven experience with EMC/thermal layout strategies and signal integrity
• Solid understanding of DFM/DFT principles and cable harness design
• Direct experience collaborating with contract manufacturers
• Proactive ownership mindset with pragmatic working style and ability to establish scalable processes
• Very good English skills (German is a plus)
• Nice to have: Familiarity with industrial protocols (EtherCAT, Profinet, Modbus, CAN, Ethernet) and safety standards (CE/Machinery Directive, ISO 10218, EMC standards, STO, PL/SIL)
