Junior Data Engineer

Our talent team is representing a confidential technology consultancy seeking a Junior Data Engineer to join their Hamburg office. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional to build expertise in data architecture and pipeline development across diverse industry sectors including manufacturing, healthcare, and financial services.

As a Junior Data Engineer, you'll work alongside senior team members to design and implement scalable data solutions for multinational clients, gaining hands-on experience with modern cloud platforms, ETL/ELT processes, and emerging AI technologies.

Responsibilities

• Support the design, build, and maintenance of data pipelines aligned with client business requirements
• Assist in maintaining and optimizing data infrastructure for extraction, transformation, and loading processes across diverse data sources
• Build, test, and deploy data artifacts on cloud platforms using version control best practices
• Collaborate with senior engineers to ensure data accuracy, integrity, privacy, security, and compliance through quality assurance methods
• Monitor data pipeline performance and identify optimization opportunities
• Work within agile project teams alongside client and consulting staff

What We're Looking For

• Solid foundational knowledge of data modeling concepts and modern data warehousing architectures
• Proficiency in Python and strong SQL skills for querying and manipulating complex datasets
• Hands-on experience with Git for version control and collaborative development
• Practical exposure to or understanding of cloud environments (Azure or AWS)
• Eagerness to learn new ETL/ELT tools, cloud technologies, and software engineering practices
• Foundational understanding of GenAI stack components (LLMs, Vector Databases, frameworks like LangChain)
• Strong problem-solving attitude with an enthusiastic, proactive approach to learning
• Ability to work independently on delegated tasks and collaboratively within agile teams
• University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline (or equivalent practical experience)
• German language skills at C1 level and English at B2 level
