Senior Software Engineer, Engineering Operations

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential software platform organization undergoing a significant AI-first transformation. They are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Engineering Operations team and drive engineering excellence across their development organization.

In this high-impact platform role, you will create and maintain scalable processes that enhance development efficiency, reliability, and quality. You'll work at the intersection of infrastructure and software engineering to ensure smooth workflows, robust dependency management, and continuous improvement of CI processes in an AI-augmented development environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation of automated engineering lifecycle processes, including AI-assisted release management, autonomous dependency updates, and proactive CVE remediation
• Optimize CI/release health and development velocity using metric-driven approaches to identify and eliminate bottlenecks in AI-first workflows
• Collaborate with stakeholders to implement CI strategy and engineering best practices across the organization
• Identify friction points in engineering workflows and evolve them into automated, self-sustaining systems
• Partner effectively with software engineers, engineering leaders, and cross-team stakeholders to drive process improvements
• Own and operate software with a "you build it, you run it" mindset

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• Strong software engineering experience with a proven track record of delivering results, preferably in Java
• Fullstack or Backend specialization
• Demonstrated passion for engineering operational excellence including CI/CD optimization, dependency management, release processes, and build efficiency
• Track record of owning and developing engineering processes end-to-end
• Strong experience with CI build tools (GitHub Actions, Maven, Docker) and automation (Shell/Python) in complex projects such as monorepositories
• Proven ability to collaborate across teams and deliver impactful solutions in platform environments
• Experience with developer experience tools and process optimization, including driving AI adoption
• Comfort with taking ownership of codebases and deployment/operations responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience designing efficient cross-team operations
• Practical experience with BPMN systems or workflow orchestration platforms
