Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential streaming technology company seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their UI platform team in Cambridge. In this role, you will design, implement, and optimize the foundational systems that power user experiences across millions of devices worldwide.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Building and scaling UI frameworks and features optimized for large-scale deployment
• Designing and implementing performance-critical systems across rendering pipelines, layout engines, and animation frameworks using C++
• Driving development work through modern agentic coding tools, setting context, planning architecture, and verifying agent-generated output throughout the software development lifecycle
• Developing and maintaining developer-facing tools and UI infrastructure layers
• Leading technical investigations and architecting solutions across middleware and UI systems
• Integrating AI/ML and generative AI capabilities into developer workflows and platform features
• Establishing verification practices including testing, code review, and quality gates for AI-assisted development
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver platform features with measurable improvements in performance, reliability, and scalability
• Creating tooling, frameworks, and automation to enhance developer efficiency and code quality
• Mentoring junior engineers through design reviews, pair programming, and technical guidance on both traditional development and AI-assisted workflows
• Staying current with advancements in graphics, UI systems, and AI technologies

What We're Looking For

Our client is seeking candidates with:

• 6+ years of software engineering experience with strong focus on UI frameworks, systems, or application development
• Strong proficiency in C++ for performance-critical systems and rendering pipelines
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript for building UI layers and developer-facing tooling
• Experience with JavaScript or similar scripting languages
• Proficiency in Python for tooling, automation, or AI workflows
• Demonstrated fluency across the agentic engineering toolchain including coding tools, MCP servers, custom skills, or agent frameworks, with concrete examples of shipped projects using these tools
• Ability to effectively drive AI agents, verify their output, and quickly ramp up on unfamiliar codebases with agent assistance
• Working understanding of common AI failure modes and practices to catch them before production
• Hands-on experience integrating AI/ML and generative AI tools into development workflows or product features
• Solid understanding of graphics systems, rendering, or UI performance optimization
• Strong debugging and root cause analysis skills
• Clear and effective technical communication abilities
• Specific examples of using AI tools, agents, or workflow automation to accelerate delivery, improve quality, or scale impact
• Curiosity, adaptability, good judgment, and genuine willingness to learn new approaches to working alongside AI

This is a hybrid role based in Cambridge, with in-office work Monday through Thursday and flexible remote work on Fridays.
