Sector Analyst, Proprietary Research

We are representing a leading global alternative investment firm seeking a Sector Analyst for their proprietary research function in London. Our client operates at the intersection of fundamental research, alternative data analysis, and investment decision-making. In this role, you will uncover actionable insights about European equities through compliant research methods, working alongside data scientists and engineers to inform investment strategies.

This is an opportunity to join a collaborative research team where you will develop subject-matter expertise, analyze alternative data sets, and deliver synthesized insights directly to investment professionals. Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret alternative data from multiple sources to develop expertise on key themes and KPIs driving European equity sectors and individual companies
• Produce research for internal stakeholders across various mediums including written reports, verbal presentations, and visualization tools
• Interact directly with investment professionals to understand the discretionary investment process and support more informed decision-making
• Collaborate with data sourcing, data science, and data engineering teams, as well as compliance, to evaluate and extract value from new and existing data assets
• Partner with cross-functional teams to build compliant research products and tools that inform firm-wide investments

What We're Looking For

• An undergraduate or advanced degree with demonstrated academic success
• One to five years of prior equity research, investment research, scientific research, industry research, or consulting experience, including relevant internships
• Proficiency with SQL and Python, with ability to participate in a live technical screening
• Experience leveraging data analysis as part of fundamental research in business, public policy, finance, engineering, applied sciences, or other quantitative fields
• Comfort analyzing novel data sets and explaining complex concepts to non-technical partners
• Passion for finance, research, and using data to solve problems
• Strong organizational skills to manage a demanding workload, creativity, and excellent work ethic
• Ability to operate productively in a collaborative team environment
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Commitment to the highest ethical standards and compliance protocols
