About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential open-source technology organization seeking a Software Engineer - Solutions Engineering to join their globally distributed team. This remote role offers the opportunity to work on infrastructure-as-code products that power cloud computing, AI/ML, and high-performance computing initiatives for enterprise clients worldwide.

Our client operates at the intersection of distributed systems, DevOps, and Linux infrastructure. You'll be developing pure Python software that simplifies operations for bare-metal, private cloud, Kubernetes, and OpenStack environments. The team collaborates closely with managed infrastructure operations running production systems for customers globally, ensuring real-world feedback drives product development.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver open-source software operations code primarily in Python, with some Golang
• Work across the full Linux stack including kernel, networking, storage, virtualization, and containers
• Build high-quality monitoring and alerting infrastructure for distributed systems
• Develop infrastructure-as-code solutions that enable efficient DevOps workflows
• Apply sound engineering design, testing principles, and documentation standards
• Follow agile development practices within a globally distributed team
• Mentor and coach colleagues to foster a collaborative engineering culture
• Participate in team sprints and events (up to 10% travel globally)

• Strong Python development skills and passion for the language
• Solid understanding of cloud computing concepts and technologies
• Practical knowledge of Linux systems and networking

Preferred qualifications:

• University degree in Computer Science or related software engineering field
• Experience with Golang programming
• Background with OpenStack, Kubernetes, or similar infrastructure platforms
