Controller – Performance, Analytics & BI (m/w/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential professional services firm in München that is building out its finance operations function. Our talent team is seeking an experienced Controller to establish a data-driven management control framework from the ground up. This is a strategic role reporting directly to executive leadership with substantial autonomy to design systems, implement analytics infrastructure, and drive business decisions through financial insight.

You will work closely with senior leadership and practice area heads to create KPI frameworks, automated reporting systems, and performance dashboards that enable proactive management of profitability, capacity, and resource allocation across multiple locations and service lines.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement a comprehensive controlling framework including KPIs, reporting systems, and management dashboards for executive leadership and practice areas
• Build plan-versus-actual comparison systems and automated early warning mechanisms for cost and budget monitoring
• Analyze profitability, contribution margins, productivity, utilization, work-in-progress, and working capital metrics to generate actionable management insights
• Ensure data quality across planning inputs including revenue forecasts, hour budgets, master data, and time tracking systems
• Advance capacity planning, workforce planning, and financial forecasting capabilities by developing appropriate data models and tools
• Conduct monthly reporting and strategic discussions with senior stakeholders, following up on action items and translating analysis into decisions
• Maximize value from existing controlling software while supplementing with custom Power BI solutions where appropriate
• Develop partner-level Power BI dashboards and automated reports integrating data from controlling software, accounting systems, HRIS, and other platforms

What We're Looking For

• Several years of substantial controlling experience, ideally including building or significantly developing a controlling or reporting function
• Advanced Power BI proficiency with ability to independently build data models, dashboards, and permission structures
• Strong quantitative orientation with expertise in Excel, raw data manipulation, data modeling, and complex analytical logic
• Understanding of controlling as active business management—able to translate numbers clearly, challenge assumptions critically, and articulate concrete action needs
• Confidence to conduct strategic planning discussions with senior leaders as peers and systematically follow through on initiatives
• Highly independent, structured, and solution-oriented working style without need for detailed oversight
• Commitment to data quality and clean processes as fundamental controlling prerequisites
• Experience in professional services, consulting, or similar environments is beneficial but not required; more important is your ability to quickly learn new systems and data structures, recognize patterns, and leverage existing tools for better management control
• German language proficiency required for this München-based role
