Responsibilities
We are representing a confidential European defence technology client seeking a working student to support their flight software engineering team. In this role, you will work hands-on with autopilot systems, contributing to the software layer that underpins aircraft operations.
- Support development and testing of PX4 / autopilot software, including configuration and log analysis
- Write and maintain Python tooling for test automation, data processing, and flight-log analysis
- Reproduce, isolate, and document software issues identified in simulation and flight testing
- Process and visualize flight and telemetry data to make system behavior observable to the engineering team
- Support feedback loops between test results and software iterations
- Maintain clean, reusable tooling, scripts, and documentation
What We're Looking For
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Aerospace, or a comparable technical field
- Hands-on experience with Python, ideally including data processing or automation
- Familiarity with PX4, ArduPilot, or comparable autopilot / flight control systems
- Must be a citizen of a NATO member state (due to export control and security regulations)
- Available 20 hours per week during the semester, with flexibility around your studies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; German is a plus
