Senior Programme Manager – EU Projects (all genders)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential sustainability organization focused on marine innovation and policy development across Europe. Our talent team is seeking a Senior Programme Manager to oversee complex EU-funded projects and lead strategic initiatives in the blue economy sector.

This is a full-time position based in Berlin with hybrid flexibility (up to three days remote weekly). Candidates must hold the right to live and work in Germany; visa sponsorship is not available.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage a portfolio of multi-stakeholder EU-funded projects and service contracts, ensuring high-quality performance and compliance
• Coordinate activities and tasks across project partners, monitor budgets, prepare deliverables, and manage project reporting
• Line manage and guide staff members within the project portfolio, including capacity planning, performance appraisal, and team development
• Lead strategic stakeholder engagement activities with government agencies, industry partners, research institutions, and NGOs
• Author policy briefs, position papers, expert reports, and project deliverables
• Represent the organization at workshops, conferences, and events, including workshop facilitation and public speaking
• Scout new project acquisition opportunities, build consortia, and lead proposal writing efforts

What We're Looking For

• Master's degree in environmental, biomarine, or social science discipline
• At least 7 years of proven work experience in EU funding and policy, or relevant industry sectors
• Proven experience in project/service acquisition at coordinator level and EU proposal writing
• Several years of experience managing people and leading teams
• Evidence-based research skills and ability to produce high-quality reports, briefs, and policy recommendations
• Strong network in the blue economy or sustainability field (preferred)
• Experience or interest in sustainability, environmental, or marine topics such as aquaculture, marine spatial planning, or blue economy innovation
• Skilled communicator with diplomatic partner engagement abilities
• Experience delivering presentations to large audiences and facilitating workshops
• Fluent in written and spoken English; proficiency in German or other European languages is a strong advantage
• Good knowledge of MS Office, SharePoint, and collaboration tools
• Based in Berlin or willing to relocate
• Able to travel occasionally within Europe for events and project meetings
