(Senior) Custody Operations Manager (f/m/d)

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential fintech organization in their search for a Senior Custody Operations Manager to join their growing Digital Wealth Management division in Berlin. This role sits at the intersection of securities operations, regulatory compliance, and strategic process optimization within a fast-scaling retail investment platform.

As the operational backbone for retail investing services, you'll ensure the secure, compliant infrastructure that supports high-volume customer transactions. This is a critical position for someone who thrives on building resilient systems and navigating the complex German regulatory landscape.

Responsibilities

• Drive strategic evolution of operational workflows to ensure scalability and resilience for high-volume retail growth
• Define and execute control frameworks for daily securities processing, ensuring rigorous validation of outsourced clearing and settlement activities
• Partner with Compliance, Legal, and Risk teams to maintain strict adherence to German financial regulations including KWG, WpHG, and MaRisk
• Proactively investigate and resolve complex securities discrepancies and trade breaks in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
• Support due diligence activities and comprehensive audits for current and prospective outsourcing partners
• Provide subject matter expertise for strategic initiatives including product launches, platform upgrades, and system migrations

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or completed banking apprenticeship (Bankkaufmann/-frau) with relevant qualifications
• 7+ years of operations experience within a custodian bank, clearing firm, or retail broker in the German/European market
• Direct experience with mass-affluent and high-volume retail accounts, managing fractional shares and savings plans (Sparpläne)
• Deep understanding of Clearstream Banking Frankfurt (CBF), T2S, and European post-trade infrastructure
• Proven background establishing and executing internal controls, particularly within MaRisk and outsourced operations contexts
• Business fluency in both German and English is required
