Data Engineer (all genders)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential management consultancy with a specialized cloud and data engineering practice. Our client serves enterprise organizations across Europe and works at the intersection of data strategy and production systems. We're seeking a Data Engineer to join their high-performing analytics team in Germany.

This role offers the opportunity to work on complex data platforms for marquee clients, combining technical depth with business impact. You'll be part of an agile, international team that values engineering excellence and ownership mentality.

Responsibilities

• Lead data engineering projects from scoping through delivery, ensuring measurable business outcomes
• Design and implement data architectures for both batch and streaming workloads at varying scales
• Provision and manage cloud infrastructure on AWS, Azure, or GCP to support data platforms
• Build production-grade Python ETL/ELT pipelines using orchestration tools like Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect
• Implement and optimize data lake technologies and OLAP warehouses/lakehouses
• Model data across SQL and NoSQL databases with focus on performance and cost optimization
• Develop web APIs using Python frameworks such as FastAPI and Flask with OpenAPI documentation
• Automate deployments using Infrastructure-as-Code and containerization technologies including Docker and Kubernetes
• Collaborate with stakeholders and travel occasionally to client sites

What We're Looking For

• Hands-on production experience with a major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP preferred)
• Strong Python development skills with emphasis on idiomatic, well-tested code
• Proven ability to build production-grade software systems
• Expertise in performance tuning and optimization of relational databases (indexing, sharding, partitioning)
• Experience with data workflow orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect
• Proficiency with large-scale data processing and modern analytics stacks (Apache Spark, Snowflake, dbt, or similar)
• Strong knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Excellent German language skills (C1 level) and conversational English
• Customer-focused mindset with results-driven approach
• Passion for modern, AI-driven technology combined with engineering craftsmanship

Pay
