Senior Human-Centric AI Engineer

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential technology consultancy seeking a Senior Human-Centric AI Engineer to work at the intersection of AI, cognitive science, and human-machine interaction. In this high-autonomy role, you will be responsible for the technical realization of intelligent interface frameworks, encompassing multi-modal human sensing and fusion, human-centric contextual modeling, and agentic workflows that support human users proactively.

Your work will include:

• Delivering on diverse client projects, from designing and running human subjects' studies for evidence-based interface design, to technical development of novel interaction paradigms
• Conducting technical research focused on understanding state-of-the-art capabilities in human-machine understanding and translating them into robust industrial solutions through technical prototypes
• Proactively identifying opportunities to apply human-centric AI across multiple markets, building demos and prototypes that showcase technical leadership
• Collaborating with colleagues to translate deep technical insights into compelling narratives and functional systems for clients and academic audiences
• Navigating the art of the possible by deriving insights from diverse fields such as psychology, cognitive science, affective computing, and human-robot interaction

What We're Looking For

Our client is seeking a candidate who thrives on technical ambiguity and possesses the drive to build independently across disciplines:

Required qualifications:

• An excellent degree or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Cognitive Science, Psychology, or a related field with emphasis on computational modeling or AI
• High proficiency in Python and experience with AI/ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch), with comfort building and debugging complex, real-time systems
• Prior experience with human subject research, including experiment protocol and methodology development, conducting experiments, data analysis, and synthesis of insights
• Experience with ethics committees is highly valued
• Ability to work independently, driving curiosity to explore new topics and proactively building prototypes that demonstrate ideas

Highly desired experience:

• Proven experience in technical realization of human-robot interaction or human-computer interaction systems, such as cognitive architectures, multi-modal perception pipelines, or affective computing
• Experience with agentic AI workflows, knowledge graphs, and complex state-machine architectures
• Track record of publications in relevant conferences (e.g., ICRA, IROS, HRI, NeurIPS, ICML) and/or academic journals
• Development of software for distributed real-time physical systems or robotics (e.g., ROS2)
