Senior Software Engineer (m/f/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential marketplace technology organization seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join a core product team focused on high-traffic user-facing systems. In this role, you will have genuine ownership over critical features and infrastructure that directly impact business outcomes.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Working as part of a fullstack engineering team using React, TypeScript, Node.js, Java, and Next.js to build and refine customer-facing features
• Driving strategic technical decisions and establishing optimal code design standards to ensure long-term system health
• Architecting and maintaining a clean, scalable modular monolith built for sustained growth
• Applying an AI-first mindset throughout the development lifecycle—from design and coding to testing, deployment, and operations
• Working hands-on in production codebases (TypeScript/Node/Next.js or Java/Spring), leveraging GenAI tools to accelerate development, improve quality, and simplify existing systems
• Optimizing frontend performance with a strong focus on Core Web Vitals and user experience
• Designing cloud-based backend services that are efficient, observable, and production-ready
• Driving A/B experimentation, performance measurement, and data-informed decision-making
• Mentoring engineers across the team and fostering a high-performance engineering culture

Tech Stack: React, TypeScript, Zustand, Node.js, Java, REST APIs, AWS (EC2, S3, SQS), CI/CD via GitHub Actions, Datadog, internal experimentation platforms, analytics tooling, and feature flag systems.

What We're Looking For

Must-Have Skills:

• 10+ years of engineering experience
• Experience leading teams of 5+ people in recent years
• Deep expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and Node.js
• Experience driving and applying good code design principles
• Experience building and running high-traffic applications in a product-focused environment
• Demonstrated personal excellence using GenAI coding tools (preferably Codex) to significantly improve your own development speed and quality
• Experience integrating LLM APIs (such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure OpenAI, Vertex AI, or similar) into production applications
• Strong understanding of frontend performance, SEO, and Core Web Vitals
• Comfortable working with experimentation, feature flags, and data-driven iteration
• Clear communicator and natural mentor, capable of guiding technical decisions and team growth

Nice to Have:

• Solid backend knowledge in Java and distributed systems (Scala is a plus)
• Experience in marketplace platforms or high-visibility consumer-facing products
• Familiarity with frontend architecture at scale: routing, state, and modular UI design
• Contributions to frontend or backend tooling, testing strategies, or performance profiling
