Senior Software Engineer – Personalization

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential SaaS organization seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their personalization engineering team in Berlin. This role offers the opportunity to solve complex technical challenges in delivering personalized digital experiences at scale.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will work across the full stack—from high-performance backend services to developer-facing tools and SDKs—delivering end-to-end solutions that enable personalized content delivery. You will bring strong ownership, a proactive problem-solving approach, and a commitment to continuous improvement while leveraging modern development practices and AI-assisted tools thoughtfully.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend services and APIs focused on reliability, scalability, and low latency
• Deliver complete solutions spanning backend services, React-based frontend experiences, and developer-facing SDKs and libraries
• Implement complex CDN and edge-based caching solutions to optimize personalized content retrieval
• Balance performance requirements with elegant software architecture when solving technical challenges
• Continuously monitor and optimize system performance through benchmarking and comprehensive observability instrumentation
• Apply defensive coding practices and ensure code correctness through automated testing
• Use AI-assisted and agentic coding tools responsibly while maintaining high standards for code quality, security, and review processes
• Participate actively in Agile ceremonies including planning, refinement, reviews, and retrospectives
• Stay current with emerging technologies and evaluate their potential application

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience building APIs and services that efficiently handle large traffic volumes
• Strong proficiency with server-side TypeScript and API protocol design
• Experience delivering full-stack solutions including React-based frontends and developer tools
• Experience with serverless architectures, ideally edge compute environments such as Cloudflare Workers
• Solid understanding of CDN operations and caching strategies for performance optimization
• Hands-on experience with benchmarking, code instrumentation for observability, and performance optimization at scale
• Expertise in defensive coding practices ensuring system robustness and fault tolerance
• Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines and maintaining automated tests (unit and end-to-end)
• Experience using AI tools and agentic coding workflows while applying sound engineering judgment
• Practical understanding of Agile delivery practices and how they support sustainable development
• Proactive approach with strong sense of ownership
• Excellent English communication skills, especially when explaining complex technical concepts
