Responsibilities
We are representing a global travel technology company seeking a Software Engineer II (Android) for their London-based mobile engineering team. This is a remote-first position with periodic in-person collaboration at the London office.
In this role, you will:
- Write production code daily, focusing primarily on Android development with occasional backend microservices work
- Collaborate closely with product managers and designers throughout the full software development lifecycle—from design through deployment
- Ship code to production frequently as part of a fast-paced daily release cycle
- Take ownership of all aspects of software engineering including implementation, quality assurance, and ongoing maintenance
- Break down complex technical problems into elegant, simple solutions
- Work alongside distributed engineering teams across multiple time zones
The tech stack includes Kotlin, Coroutines, Jetpack Compose, and GraphQL in a modular architecture following clean-architecture concepts with MVVM. You don't need to be an expert in everything—our client values curiosity and supports on-the-job learning.
What We're Looking For
- At least 3 years of commercial software development experience solving diverse technical challenges
- Proven Android app development experience with native mobile platforms
- Strong experience with reactive programming in mobile environments
- Demonstrated ability to use AI tools to improve efficiency and code quality
- Familiarity with mobile web and backend technologies is beneficial
- Ability to operate effectively in a globally distributed team environment
- Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to evolving requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong sense of ownership and pride in craftsmanship
