About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech client building next-generation AI-powered mobile banking solutions. Our talent team is searching for a skilled Mobile Application Developer to join their Android engineering team in Germany. This is a remote role for candidates already based in Germany who want to build consumer-facing financial products that prioritize clean user experience, performance, and reliability.

You'll be working on native Android development for a mobile-first banking application, creating intuitive flows for payments, financial services, and AI-assisted features that genuinely improve the user journey.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship Android features using Kotlin for a production banking application
• Design and implement clean mobile flows for payments, financial services, and user account management
• Collaborate with product and design teams to simplify complex financial user journeys
• Integrate backend APIs and ensure mobile flows are stable, secure, and reliable
• Improve app performance metrics including crash rate, loading states, responsiveness, and memory usage
• Use analytics and user behavior data to identify and resolve production issues
• Build AI-assisted mobile experiences where they provide clear user value
• Maintain high code quality while moving quickly in a startup environment

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of Android development experience using Kotlin
• Strong Android fundamentals with demonstrated experience shipping production applications
• Solid knowledge of Jetpack, Coroutines, Flow, and modern Android architecture patterns
• Strong sense of mobile UX, usability, edge cases, and user flow design
• Experience integrating REST APIs and debugging production issues
• Fast execution ability with high ownership and strong attention to product quality
• Experience with Jetpack Compose, SQL/NoSQL databases, and on-device ML (TensorFlow Lite) is advantageous
• Portfolio including app links, GitHub repositories, or examples of shipped work strongly preferred
• Must be currently based in Germany
• Strong English communication skills required

Ideal candidates: Think in user journeys rather than just screens, care about making complex financial products feel simple, move quickly without sacrificing code quality, notice UX and performance issues proactively, and are transparent about their individual contributions versus team efforts.

This role is not suitable for: Engineers who prefer fully defined tickets, developers who build screens without considering user experience, those who ignore crashes or edge cases, engineers who move slowly, or candidates who cannot clearly articulate their personal impact on past projects.
