Planning Director

Responsibilities

Our talent team is representing a confidential media agency seeking a Planning Director to lead day-to-day communications planning for an established brand. This role offers the opportunity to shape innovative media strategy in the UK market.

You will:

• Lead best-in-class planning responses to briefs and new business opportunities
• Manage daily account workflow, governance, and ways of working with senior support
• Present strategies and ideas confidently to clients, agency partners, and internal stakeholders
• Own key relationships with brand leads, agency partners, and media owners
• Collaborate with leadership to identify revenue growth and innovation opportunities
• Oversee implementation and delivery of media activation, managing workflow through activation teams
• Ensure campaign reporting delivers clear, actionable insights
• Supervise campaign evaluation and post-campaign analysis with team support
• Manage financial aspects including billings, reconciliations, and accruals
• Proactively resolve planning issues alongside team leadership
• Deliver key media updates on landscape trends, research, and media owner developments
• Build deep understanding of the brand's vertical, competitive set, and business challenges
• Champion integrated working across media and creative teams
• Support adoption of agency tools and processes across the team
• Coach and develop Planning Managers and Planning Executives through regular one-to-ones
• Raise the profile of account work through submissions, awards, and public speaking

• Significant media planning experience, especially across above-the-line channels
• Self-starter with curiosity who thrives in fast-paced environments
• Exceptional attention to detail with commitment to excellent output standards
• Strong client management skills to handle both junior and senior stakeholders with gravitas
• Proven track record delivering strong communications planning with measurement-focused outcomes
• Strong presentation skills in both content creation and delivery
• In-depth knowledge and application of core media tools
• Experience running all aspects of media plans from initial brief through post-campaign analysis
• Excellent listening and collaboration skills across diverse teams
• History of managing multiple workstreams flexibly across various projects
• Collaborative mindset with ability to work across agency networks

This is a hybrid role based in London, requiring approximately four days per week in-office.
