We are representing a rapidly growing e-commerce organization in Berlin that operates at significant scale within the FMCG sector. Our talent team is seeking a Senior Category Manager to take commercial ownership of a broad product portfolio and drive strategic supplier relationships that unlock growth potential.

This role offers genuine autonomy to shape category performance through data-driven decision-making, supplier development, and cross-functional collaboration. You'll work in a hybrid model with modern offices in Berlin's Lichtenberg district.

Responsibilities

  • Hold commercial accountability for revenue, profitability, inventory levels, and product availability across FMCG categories
  • Analyze performance metrics including sales, margins, pricing, demand patterns, competitive landscape, and inventory positions to derive actionable recommendations
  • Conduct independent analyses and strategically engage business intelligence teams for deeper insights
  • Make data-informed decisions on assortment expansion, optimization, new product introductions, and delisting based on commercial potential
  • Identify and develop strategically significant supplier partnerships within the vendor portfolio
  • Drive growth initiatives by negotiating improved commercial terms, uncovering new assortment opportunities, and creating joint marketing approaches with key partners
  • Lead commercial supplier negotiations supported by thorough data preparation
  • React swiftly to market changes affecting pricing, inventory, demand, and competitive dynamics
  • Coordinate across marketing, operations, logistics, and analytics functions to advance decisions and ensure disciplined execution

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in category management, procurement, commercial management, or assortment management, ideally within FMCG or e-commerce environments
  • Proven track record managing large, complex product portfolios with structured methodologies
  • Strong analytical capabilities with experience independently evaluating extensive product and performance datasets
  • Excellent commercial acumen understanding the interplay between revenue, margin, terms, inventory, availability, and growth dynamics
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating and negotiating with suppliers, manufacturers, or external business partners
  • Ability to recognize strategically important supplier relationships and deliberately cultivate their development
  • Skilled at prioritizing multiple workstreams and making sound decisions under time pressure
  • Self-directed, pragmatic, solution-oriented working style with entrepreneurial mindset
  • Fluent German and good English language skills

Additional Details

Location: Berlin, Germany (hybrid with 2 days remote)
