About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential sustainability organization focused on marine innovation and policy across Europe. We're seeking a Senior Programme Manager to join their Berlin office and lead a diverse portfolio of EU-funded projects and service contracts.

In this role, you'll oversee complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives while managing project teams and positioning the organization strategically within blue economy and ocean sustainability programs. You'll engage with government agencies, industry partners, research institutions, and NGOs across the Baltic and North Sea regions and beyond.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of EU-funded projects and service contracts, ensuring high-quality performance and compliance including coordination of partner activities, budget monitoring, deliverable preparation, and reporting
  • Provide line management and guidance to staff members across the project portfolio, including capacity planning, performance reviews, and team development
  • Lead strategic stakeholder engagement activities with government agencies, industry partners, research organizations, and NGOs to advance impact across European regions
  • Author policy briefs, position papers, expert reports, and project deliverables
  • Represent the organization at workshops, conferences, and events, including workshop facilitation and public speaking
  • Identify and pursue new project acquisition opportunities through consortium building, strategic design, and proposal writing

What We're Looking For

  • Master's degree in environmental, biomarine, social science, or related discipline
  • At least 7 years of proven experience in EU funding and policy and/or relevant industry sectors
  • Demonstrated experience in EU project/service acquisition at coordinator level and proposal writing
  • Several years of people management and team leadership experience
  • Strong network in the sustainability or marine sectors and with EU institutions (highly advantageous)
  • Experience or demonstrated interest in sustainability, environmental, or marine topics such as blue economy, innovation, aquaculture, or marine spatial planning
  • Evidence-based research skills and ability to translate science to policy through high-quality reports and recommendations
  • Excellent communication skills with proven ability to engage partners diplomatically and deliver impactful presentations to large audiences
  • Fluent written and spoken English; proficiency in German and/or other Baltic Sea region languages is a plus
  • Proficiency with MS Office, SharePoint, and collaboration tools
  • Based in Berlin or willing to relocate
  • Able to travel occasionally within Europe for events
  • Must hold the right to live and work in Germany; no visa sponsorship available for non-EU nationals
