Platform Engineer (AWS)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential voice AI technology company based in Berlin. Our client is building foundational infrastructure that powers intelligent voice agents and AI applications used by leading technology companies worldwide. Their platform processes millions of hours monthly and is backed by top-tier venture capital.

They need a Platform Engineer to own their AWS cloud infrastructure end-to-end. This is a single-owner role with full accountability for reliability, security, cost, and the deployment systems that engineering teams depend on. You'll report directly to the CTO and collaborate closely with backend leadership and IT operations.

Responsibilities

• Own the complete AWS infrastructure: Terraform, multi-account architecture, networking, IAM, EKS, databases, and CDN
• Run and maintain the Kubernetes stack including service mesh, certificates, secrets management, autoscaling, and upgrades
• Build and maintain observability infrastructure: metrics, logs, alerting, and operational dashboards
• Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines and deployment roles for backend and frontend services
• Implement and maintain technical controls for SOC 2 compliance and maintain evidence records
• Plan capacity for rapid growth and own platform cost optimization
• Participate in on-call rotation for infrastructure, write runbooks, and conduct incident reviews

What We're Looking For

Required:

• 5+ years running production infrastructure on AWS with Terraform
• Deep EKS expertise: node pools, autoscaling, networking and IP planning, upgrades, workload placement
• Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or AWS Certified CloudOps Engineer – Associate (formerly SysOps Administrator), or both
• Experience designing IAM and access controls with least-privilege principles; able to explain decisions to auditors
• Prior experience as the single accountable infrastructure owner at a company (not one member of a large SRE team)
• Strong Linux, networking, and debugging skills across the stack
• Commitment to infrastructure-as-code: reviewed, tested, and reversible changes
• Daily user of AI coding tools with understanding of their appropriate applications

Bonus Skills:

• SOC 2 or ISO 27001 controls and evidence work
• Experience with Istio, Temporal, GitHub Actions with OIDC
• AWS cost optimization, CloudFront and WAF experience

• You require fully remote work (this role is hybrid in Berlin)

Pay

Our client offers a base salary of €80,000 – €100,000 per year depending on experience, plus stock options. This is a full-time position based in Berlin with a hybrid work arrangement.
