AI & Automation Working Student (m/f/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential deep-tech organization in Garching bei München that is seeking an AI & Automation Working Student to help colleagues across physics, engineering, and operations teams maximize the value of AI tools in their daily work. This is a hands-on role where you'll split your time between user support, light feature development, and documentation—making AI platforms genuinely useful for interdisciplinary teams building cutting-edge technology.

Responsibilities

• Support colleagues onboarding onto Claude or similar AI platforms, answering usage questions and sharing practical guidance
• Act as first point of contact for everyday AI-related questions and resolve common issues
• Contribute small feature enhancements and bug fixes to internal tools built in Python and TypeScript (both UI and API work)
• Maintain and update internal documentation and how-to guides to keep knowledge accessible
• Collaborate with software, IT, and cross-functional teams to identify where AI and tooling can provide genuine value
• Spot opportunities to simplify or automate recurring manual workflows

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Currently enrolled student in computer science, physics, engineering or comparable field
• Python fluency—comfortable reading and modifying existing codebases
• Hands-on experience with agentic coding and modern development tools such as Claude Code, Codex or similar
• Reliability: ability to follow through on tasks independently and flag blockers proactively
• Clear communication skills when explaining technical topics to colleagues with varying AI experience
• Structured, hands-on, solution-oriented working style
• Strong collaboration skills in interdisciplinary environments
• Continuous-learning mindset and genuine curiosity
• Fluent English; German is a plus

Nice to Have:

• Experience with LLM APIs (Anthropic or OpenAI SDKs)
• Basic web application development experience
• Product and UX intuition for internal tooling
• Previous experience in startup, scale-up or deep-tech environments
