About This Opportunity
Our talent team is representing a confidential technology company in Berlin that is experiencing exceptional growth. We are searching for a VP of Engineering to own engineering execution, quality, reliability, and team development while reporting to the CTO.
This is an onsite position based in Berlin for a business that is scaling rapidly and values speed, AI-enabled workflows, and a lean approach to shipping product.
Responsibilities
- Own engineering end-to-end, including execution, quality, reliability, and people development
- Partner with Product and Design to turn ideas into experiments and successful releases
- Build and lead a QA function that prevents defects and maintains site reliability, with authority to surface release risks early
- Implement AI-native workflows as the default, reducing time from hypothesis to live experiment to decision
- Develop the leadership bench and engineering culture to sustain compounding organisational growth
- Ensure engineers focus on highest-impact work through shared prioritisation with Product and Design
- Connect engineering decisions to business outcomes, not just delivery metrics
What We're Looking For
- Hands-on technical leader, strong in JavaScript/TypeScript, who writes and reviews code
- Proven experience rethinking team workflows with AI and shipping faster as a result
- Track record scaling engineering organisations through significant business growth
- Experience developing engineering managers and building leadership teams
- Led Frontend, Backend, and Reliability functions with the ability to design operating models that enable speed
- Strong partnership skills with Product and Design, translating business priorities into shared roadmaps
- Bonus: React Native, Python, data pipeline experience
