Head of People & Culture (m/w/d) im Ehrenamt

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential nonprofit organization in Berlin that is establishing a dedicated volunteer engagement and culture function. This role sits directly with executive leadership and is initially set for three months to build the foundation for a long-term people and culture experience.

You will be responsible for:

• Creating and maintaining a welcoming atmosphere for all volunteers across the organization
• Developing formats for networking and exchange among volunteers, including topic-based discussions, regular meetups, and informal connection opportunities
• Building network perspectives by establishing and nurturing contacts between volunteers and functional departments
• Designing a positive volunteer experience from onboarding through ongoing engagement
• Conceptualizing a people and culture experience that includes recognition formats and benefits while working within minimal budget constraints
• Maintaining close alignment with executive leadership on strategic direction and priorities
• Gathering feedback from volunteers and translating it into concrete improvements

What We're Looking For

Our client seeks someone with experience in community management, culture development, volunteer coordination, human resources, or a comparable role. The ideal candidate demonstrates:

• Strong intuition for people and group dynamics, coupled with the ability to translate insights into practical engagement formats
• Creativity in working with limited resources—great ideas matter more than budget
• Organizational skills and reliability in execution
• Clear, appreciative communication style that resonates with diverse individuals
• Practical experience that speaks for itself; formal degrees are not required

This is a volunteer position offering full flexibility in time management and primarily remote collaboration.
