Truenorth Executive Search is recruiting for an Executive Director to lead the Firearms Safety Education Service of Ontario (FSESO), a not-for-profit training organization serving Ontario. Based in Orillia and operating across the province, FSESO seeks a strategic leader to guide its mission of delivering evidence-based firearms safety training on behalf of the Chief Firearms Officer of Ontario.
What This Role Involves
As Executive Director, you will provide senior leadership and strategic direction for FSESO, overseeing all aspects of operations and program delivery. You'll manage the organization's network of 250+ independent instructors, ensuring consistency in training standards and compliance with regulatory requirements. Your focus will be on advancing Ontario's public safety mission through effective firearms safety education while maintaining the organization's independence and financial sustainability.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Lead organizational strategy, planning, and performance management
- Oversee instructor training, certification, and quality assurance programs
- Manage relationships with government partners, particularly the Chief Firearms Officer of Ontario
- Develop and monitor operational budgets and financial performance
- Guide program development and curriculum improvements
- Represent FSESO to community stakeholders, regulators, and the public

- Demonstrated executive leadership experience in a not-for-profit, education, or public safety environment
- Strong understanding of Ontario regulatory frameworks and stakeholder engagement
- Proven ability to manage complex operations and diverse teams or networks

- Commitment to public safety and evidence-based firearms education
