AI Governance (Senior) Consultant (m/w/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a specialized consulting firm in the governance and compliance space. Our client works with organizations across regulated industries to establish robust frameworks for emerging technologies. They are seeking talented professionals at both Consultant and Senior Consultant levels to join their AI Governance practice in München.

This role offers the opportunity to shape how organizations approach AI governance, risk management, and regulatory compliance in an evolving landscape.

Responsibilities

• Analyze existing governance models and identify optimization opportunities in the context of artificial intelligence implementation
• Design and implement policies, procedures, and frameworks to ensure effective AI governance across the technology lifecycle
• Support clients in establishing compliance and ethical standards for AI systems, both nationally and internationally
• Coordinate the implementation of governance processes within AI projects and initiatives
• Assess regulatory requirements and derive practical measures to ensure compliance with applicable legal frameworks
• Document processes and prepare reports to support continuous improvement of governance structures

Additional responsibilities at Senior level:

• Lead complex governance projects and assume strategic responsibility for implementing modern AI governance frameworks
• Develop tailored governance strategies aligned with international compliance and ethical standards
• Advise executives and decision-makers on regulatory risks, including preparation for the EU AI Act
• Support implementation and development of ISO management systems and conduct information security audits
• Oversee governance process implementation and drive continuous improvements in collaboration with internal teams and client stakeholders
• Mentor and coach junior consultants, fostering knowledge transfer within the team
• Lead strategic discussions, present results in workshops, and prepare executive-level decision materials

What We're Looking For

For Consultant level:

• Successfully completed university degree with relevant practical experience through internships or working student positions
• Passion for governance, risk, and compliance topics with solid theoretical foundation
• Basic understanding of AI model functionality and interest in governance and quality assurance
• High motivation to explore frameworks for safe AI use and interest in regulatory environments
• Basic knowledge of information security, with initial exposure to audit processes preferred
• Ability to understand complex requirements and translate them into practical measures
• Team-oriented approach with initiative and openness to feedback
• Strong communication skills in both German and English

Additional requirements at Senior level:

• At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in consulting, auditing, or comparable role
• Extensive experience in regulation, governance, or risk and compliance
• Solid experience in cross-functional consulting on AI control process design and governance standards throughout the AI lifecycle
• Knowledge of regulatory frameworks such as NIS2, DORA, MaRisk, and ideally the EU AI Act
• Auditing experience in information security; ISO Lead Implementor or ISO Auditor certification preferred
• Ability to confidently assess regulatory requirements and translate them into concrete organizational, procedural, or technical measures
• Active team leadership, professional exchange facilitation, and talent development capabilities
• Confident communication with senior stakeholders in German and English
