About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential premium transportation technology company expanding rapidly across Europe and the US. Our client is a profitable, high-growth organization seeking a Mid to Senior Backend Engineer to join their Marketplace team in London.
The Marketplace team develops sophisticated models and algorithms that balance supply and demand, optimizing pricing and matching to ensure service quality and operational efficiency. You'll be working on systems that directly impact thousands of daily transactions.
Responsibilities
- Write high-quality, performant code primarily in Go
- Implement new microservices while helping manage and migrate away from legacy services
- Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and data scientists to transform requirements into concrete technical designs
- Ensure systems remain responsive under heavy load, optimizing for both latency and reliability
- Practice test-driven development (TDD), domain-driven design (DDD), and continuous integration and delivery
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of experience building and maintaining scalable backend services (5+ years for senior-level candidates)
- Strong engineering fundamentals—our client primarily uses Go, but will interview you in your strongest language (Python, C++, Java, Ruby, etc.)
- In-depth knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases including PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redis
- Experience with message brokers such as RabbitMQ or Kafka
- Familiarity with microservices architecture, gRPC, and Thrift is beneficial
- Understanding of AWS, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform is a plus

Location: West London office-based role, four days per week with flexible start and finish times, plus one remote day of your choice
