About This Opportunity
Our talent team is representing a confidential fintech organization operating at the intersection of traditional finance and digital assets. They are building critical infrastructure that enables enterprises, payment service providers, and financial institutions to manage digital value movement at scale with institutional-grade compliance and security.
We are hiring Senior and Staff Backend Engineers for multiple tracks within their enterprise division, based hybrid in Berlin. This is a high-velocity, high-accountability environment where engineers own outcomes end-to-end and AI tooling is integrated into daily workflows.
The Role
You will design, build, and operate backend services that process high volumes of financial transactions with rigorous guarantees around correctness, idempotency, and auditability. When you apply through Get A Job.ai, please indicate which track interests you most:
- Track 1: KYB/KYC & Compliance Platform – Build systems powering business and individual verification flows, risk scoring, sanctions and AML screening, case management, and vendor integrations across multiple jurisdictions
- Track 2: New Product Lines (Custody) – Ground-floor work on institutional digital asset custody: key management workflows, policy engines, transaction authorization, ledger integrity, and audit trails
- Track 3: Blockchain & On-Chain Infrastructure – Build services for digital asset issuance, smart contract integrations on EVM and Solana, and on-chain/off-chain reconciliation systems
All services are written in Rust. You will integrate with banks, payment processors, blockchains, and compliance vendors, and build the abstractions that make those integrations reliable.
Responsibilities
- Own features end-to-end: product spec, technical design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production monitoring
- Build backend services in Rust that handle financial transactions with strong correctness and audit requirements
- Integrate with external partners including banks, payment processors, blockchains, and identity/compliance vendors
- Improve engineering quality across observability, incident response, security practices, and API design
- Collaborate with product, compliance, and engineering teams across a global organization
- Staff level: Set technical direction, mentor engineers, and drive architectural decisions spanning multiple teams
What We're Looking For
Required:
- 5+ years backend engineering experience (8+ for Staff level) shipping and operating production systems at scale
- Strong backend experience with a statically compiled language (Rust, Go, C#, C++) – deep fundamentals matter more than specific language history
- Solid distributed systems knowledge: API design, data modeling, asynchronous processing
- Experience in domains requiring precision: financial systems, double-entry ledgers, reconciliation, or similarly correctness-critical software
- Pragmatic, autonomous, ownership-driven mindset with strong communication skills
- Critical thinking in how you use AI tools – productive AI-assisted development while maintaining control of correctness, security, and design
- Interest in digital assets and the future of payments (prior crypto experience is a plus, except Track 3 where blockchain development experience is expected)
Bonus:
- Professional or hobby Rust experience (open-source contributions count)
- Fiat payments, banking integrations, card networks, or PSP experience
- KYC/KYB, AML, sanctions screening, or regulated financial products (Track 1)
- Custody, key management (MPC/HSM), or institutional-grade security background (Track 2)
- Smart contract development in Solidity (EVM) or Rust (Solana), on-chain indexing or node infrastructure (Track 3)
- Multi-jurisdiction regulated environment experience
