Senior Data Scientist

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential consulting firm seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join their growing data practice serving financial services clients. This is a hybrid role based in London, offering the opportunity to design and implement cutting-edge data science solutions that drive commercial and customer outcomes. You'll lead intelligent systems development while mentoring team members in a dynamic, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end delivery of data science solutions including proof of concepts, MVPs, and production deployments
• Develop and prototype machine learning models to solve complex business challenges using modern techniques and tooling
• Collaborate with engineers, domain experts, and business teams to translate requirements into deliverables
• Guide and coach data science teams, supporting skill development and solution design
• Serve as a subject matter expert on ML architecture, model calibration, and productionisation
• Promote responsible AI practices and scalable model governance

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Hands-on experience building and deploying data science solutions in Python and related ML libraries
• Strong background in applied machine learning, model development, and data engineering
• Experience with cloud environments (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and tools such as Spark, Hive, and Redshift
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and mentor junior practitioners
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences
• Appreciation of responsible AI principles

Preferred qualifications:

• Participation in Kaggle or other data science competitions
• Experience with MLOps practices (CI/CD, model monitoring, DevOps integration)
• Familiarity with advanced NLP frameworks such as spaCy or Transformers
• Exposure to AI technologies including Generative AI or LLMs
• MSc or PhD in a numerate discipline
• Financial services or banking experience
