Internal Communications, Director (Individual Contributor)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential technology client in their search for a Director of Internal Communications. This is a senior individual contributor role responsible for shaping how thousands of employees across the organization stay informed, aligned, and connected to company priorities.

Our client operates at significant scale, serving enterprise and mid-market customers across multiple industries. This role will own the internal narrative—translating business strategy into clear, compelling messaging that resonates across all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Own strategy and execution of the company-wide internal communications program, ensuring employees are informed during major updates, organizational changes, and key announcements
• Lead planning, narrative development, and production for All Hands meetings and other company-wide forums, including executive talking points and delivery
• Build and scale internal video communications capabilities, producing executive updates, milestone content, and storytelling that brings company priorities to life
• Evolve internal channel strategy (email, collaboration platforms, video) to ensure precise targeting, optimal timing, and consistent messaging across audiences
• Draft and refine executive communications, including CEO messages, leadership talking points, and briefing materials for high-stakes internal moments
• Partner with Corporate Communications, Legal, and People teams to develop proactive and reactive plans for sensitive or complex announcements
• Ensure employees hear critical news before or alongside external audiences, maintaining alignment between internal and external messaging
• Develop listening mechanisms (surveys, pulse checks, forums) to measure employee sentiment and communications effectiveness, using insights to continuously improve
• Serve as a trusted advisor to executives and cross-functional leaders on internal messaging and change communications

What We're Looking For

• 10+ years of experience in internal, corporate, or executive communications, ideally at a high-growth technology company
• Proven track record producing All Hands and executive forums, from narrative development through live or recorded delivery
• Hands-on experience building video communications and modern, multi-channel employee engagement programs
• Strong executive presence with demonstrated experience advising and writing for C-suite leaders
• Exceptional storytelling and writing skills; ability to translate complex or sensitive topics into clear, memorable messaging
• Experience supporting crisis, issues, or change communications in partnership with Legal and Corporate Communications teams
• Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills; ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field; advanced degree a plus
• Comfort using AI-enabled tools to support messaging development and communications analysis, with sound judgment on appropriate use
