Senior Territory Production Underwriter – Middle Market Construction Insurance

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential commercial insurance organization seeking a Senior Territory Production Underwriter specializing in Middle Market Construction Insurance. This is a remote production underwriting role with travel to key agency relationships within an assigned Northeast territory. We're looking for an experienced commercial insurance professional who combines analytical strength with relationship-building expertise and an entrepreneurial mindset.

Responsibilities

• Manage and underwrite primarily middle market accounts with emphasis on commercial construction services through direct contact with select agencies and brokers
• Monitor market conditions, competitive landscape, and research risk environments necessary to win complex accounts
• Quote, price, and underwrite new and renewal policies and endorsements for complex or service-sensitive accounts
• Drive robust agency business planning with detailed performance plans, actions, accountabilities, and scheduled checkpoints
• Analyze quality and quantity of risks underwritten; review agency books of business and profit/growth results to recommend action plans
• Complete agency visits to develop new accounts, service existing relationships, review performance, and enhance partnerships
• Market products and services to drive agency and company results; assist agencies with pipeline management and producer development strategies
• Consult with agents and internal partners regarding appetite, acceptability, terms, conditions, and pricing of large or unique businesses
• Achieve production, profitability, and service objectives while managing significant workload and ensuring file handling quality
• Communicate market intelligence, product changes, and company objectives to agencies and leadership

What We're Looking For

• Seven or more years of progressively responsible underwriting and sales experience in commercial insurance
• Commercial insurance underwriting experience with binding authority required
• Strong profitability and production orientation combined with agency management expertise
• Middle market commercial insurance expertise strongly preferred
• Construction-specific insurance industry experience highly desirable
• Existing relationships with agency partner firms a significant advantage
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred
• Relevant professional designation such as CPCU or CIC preferred
• Extensive working knowledge of commercial underwriting, pricing, and coverage for middle market business
• Strong interpersonal and sales skills with ability to build and maintain cooperative partnerships
• Valid driver's license and safe driving record required
• Location in or near the Northeast territory preferred
• This role does not qualify for employer-sponsored work authorization
