Staff Software Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential hospitality technology organization seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join their Revenue Intelligence team. This is a remote position based in Europe.

Our client builds platforms that transform hospitality data into actionable insights for properties worldwide. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will provide technical leadership for systems that help hospitality businesses understand demand, identify revenue opportunities, and optimize pricing strategies. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will solve complex engineering problems while establishing architecture, improving reliability, and aligning multiple teams around sustainable technical decisions.

Responsibilities

• Set and evolve technical strategy for Revenue Intelligence systems, translating product goals into coherent architecture and executable engineering plans
• Lead design and delivery of complex capabilities across customer-facing applications, backend APIs, event-driven services, data pipelines, analytical storage, and recommendation workflows
• Identify and resolve systemic risks in scalability, reliability, security, data quality, and observability before they impact customers or engineering teams
• Drive modernization of legacy systems through incremental, well-reasoned migrations that preserve delivery momentum and production stability
• Partner with Product, Data Science, Infrastructure, Security, and engineering leadership to define boundaries, contracts, and long-term platform direction
• Remain hands-on through implementation, technical spikes, design reviews, debugging, incident response, and critical engineering work
• Raise technical effectiveness across the organization through mentoring, architecture guidance, engineering standards, and documentation

What We're Looking For

Required Experience and Skills:

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with significant technical leadership across complex production systems
• Deep hands-on expertise in Python with ability to guide engineering decisions across ecosystems
• Strong architecture and distributed-systems fundamentals including API design, event-driven workflows, consistency, failure handling, and service boundaries
• Experience with data-intensive systems such as PostgreSQL, Redshift or similar analytical platforms, batch and streaming pipelines, and large-scale data processing
• Experience designing or operating recommendation systems, machine-learning platforms, pricing systems, or decision-support products
• Strong cloud and platform engineering experience with AWS, containers, Kubernetes, Terraform, Helm, Argo CD, CI/CD, and observability tools
• Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, create cross-team alignment, communicate complex tradeoffs, and drive decisions from ambiguity to execution
• Strong record of improving engineering quality through testing strategy, operational readiness, incident learning, security, and sustainable technical standards
• Product judgment and customer empathy to connect technical investments to measurable business outcomes
• Business-level English fluency and experience collaborating effectively in remote, globally distributed organizations
