Engineering Manager – Analytics House

About This Opportunity

We are representing a global technology organization in the multicloud infrastructure space. Our client is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager - Analytics House to join their distributed R&D team. This is a fully remote role open to candidates based on the East Coast US, UK, Ireland, Estonia, the Netherlands, Sweden, or Israel.

This is a hands-on, player-coach leadership position where you will be deeply embedded with your team—participating in daily standups, reviewing code, leading architectural discussions, planning delivery, and managing performance. You'll own both the team's technical output and its professional growth.

Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Growth

• Lead a team of engineers, owning both delivery outcomes and professional development
• Drive a culture of continuous improvement through fast iterations and compounding progress
• Develop engineers through regular 1:1s, growth plans, performance reviews, and candid feedback
• Build the next layer of leadership by developing tech leads, senior engineers, and future managers

Technical Leadership

• Write and review code regularly, maintaining credibility through hands-on contribution rather than title alone
• Drive architectural and technical design decisions in partnership with senior individual contributors
• Uphold engineering standards through thorough pull-request reviews and maintain scalable, healthy systems
• Work AI-augmented yourself and lead an AI-augmented team with sharp judgment about tooling effectiveness

Roadmap & Delivery

• Own team commitments on scope, timeline, and quality standards
• Run disciplined planning, prioritization, and delivery cadences without bureaucratic overhead
• Partner with Technical Product Owners and Product teams on scope, sequencing, and tradeoffs
• Translate business objectives into engineering context and ensure clear alignment
• React decisively to changing priorities while keeping the team engaged and steady

Hiring & Organizational Impact

• Own hiring for your team with thoughtful interviewing and high standards
• Make hiring and performance decisions that maintain team quality
• Serve as a role model for other engineering managers across the organization

Communication & Collaboration

• Communicate clearly upward to leadership with appropriate context and well-prioritized escalations
• Empower senior engineers to own key areas while coaching team members on focus and impact
• Partner effectively across Product, Design, Customer Success, and other cross-functional teams

What We're Looking For

• 10+ years of engineering experience, including 4+ years in engineering management roles where you actively coded
• Real-world experience building cloud-based SaaS products on AWS, GCP, or Azure, owning availability, cost, and customer-facing surfaces
• API-first mindset—building products fully functional through APIs for both human and agent interaction
• Strong background in databases, SQL, query optimization, and BigQuery
• Demonstrated track record of transforming engineering teams with measurable improvements in delivery velocity, technical quality, or team caliber
• Deep technical fluency in your team's stack—able to read, write, and review code at a senior level and stay current
• Strong opinions on high-performing engineering team operations, with clear philosophies on hiring, coaching, performance management, and technical decision-making
• Excellent judgment under pressure—making quick decisions with imperfect information and taking responsibility for outcomes
• Direct, candid communication style—comfortable giving and receiving hard feedback

Bonus Qualifications

• Established AI-augmented workflow with opinions on applying AI tools and agentic workflows to improve velocity and quality
• Hands-on experience with multiple cloud providers
• Background scaling teams, processes, or technical systems during organizational growth
