About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential cloud technology organization seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to join their distributed engineering teams. This is a remote, full-time position available to candidates in the UK, Ireland, Estonia, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Israel. Contract opportunities are also available for qualified professionals in Eastern Europe and Portugal.

Our client works with cloud-driven organizations across multiple major cloud platforms, combining advanced technology with deep expertise to solve complex infrastructure challenges. This role offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated platform engineering problems at scale.

Responsibilities

• Individual Contribution & Collaboration: Work as an individual contributor within the platform team, actively collaborating through code reviews, providing mentorship, and supporting feature teams in adopting platform capabilities.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Architect, design, and implement comprehensive IaC solutions using Terraform, applying software engineering best practices including reusable modules, testing strategies, and predictable provisioning.
• Kubernetes Management: Deploy, manage, and optimize Kubernetes clusters on GCP (GKE) and AWS (EKS), including node groups, network policies, service meshes, cluster upgrades, and ensuring high availability and performance.
• CI/CD Development: Design and maintain robust Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment pipelines tailored for platform components, integrating tools like Argo CD or Atlantis to automate build and release processes.
• Troubleshooting & Resolution: Serve as primary point of contact for diagnosing platform-related issues including performance bottlenecks, scalability challenges, and security vulnerabilities. Conduct root cause analysis and develop incident response plans.
• Automation Leadership: Drive automation initiatives to eliminate manual operational tasks, developing scripts, tools, and workflows for infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and monitoring.
• Strategic Partnership: Act as a strategic partner to development teams, understanding their infrastructure needs and translating them into actionable platform features and roadmap items.
• Internal Platform Development: Participate in the full software development lifecycle for internal tools and APIs that enhance platform functionality and developer productivity.
• Security & Compliance: Implement and enforce security best practices including access control, vulnerability management, and data encryption. Ensure compliance with industry standards such as SOC 2 and GDPR.

What We're Looking For

• Software Engineering Foundation: Strong software engineering fundamentals with proven hands-on coding experience
• Experience: 6+ years in platform engineering, DevOps engineering, or related roles with a track record of building complex cloud infrastructure
• Cloud & Container Expertise: Strong hands-on experience with GCP/AWS, Kubernetes (GKE/EKS), and Terraform
• Programming Proficiency: Demonstrated coding skills in Go or TypeScript (or other relevant languages), including experience with data structures, algorithms, and defensive programming
• CI/CD Tools: Proven experience with CI/CD tools such as Argo CD, Atlantis, or similar technologies
• Networking Knowledge: Understanding of networking concepts and protocols
• Monitoring & Logging: Extensive experience with tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and the ELK stack
• Security Awareness: Knowledge of security best practices for cloud environments
• Communication: Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal
• Work Style: Self-organized, goal-oriented, and self-motivated with ability to work effectively in remote and distributed team environments
• Platform Engineering Background: Prior experience working specifically on platform engineering projects
