About This Opportunity
We are representing a fast-growing fintech company in a search for a Senior IT & Corporate Engineering professional to own the entire IT and corporate security function. This is a senior individual contributor role reporting directly to the CTO, offering substantial autonomy and scope from day one.
Our client believes IT exists to enable speed and safety simultaneously. They need someone who can make the secure path the easy path, remove friction permanently, and build automation that scales without adding headcount. This role owns both corporate IT operations and the company's corporate security posture as a unified system.
Responsibilities
You will own IT and corporate engineering end to end, including roadmap, budget, vendor relationships, and outcomes. Key responsibilities include:
- Manage the external IT partner relationship, defining scope, setting SLAs, and owning escalation paths
- Design and operate joiner/mover/leaver processes with an entitlement model that enables day-one productivity for new hires and same-day deprovisioning
- Administer and enhance the identity and productivity stack (Okta, Google Workspace, SSO, SCIM, group and role design)
- Set and own operational policy for device standards, access workflows, and SaaS procurement review
- Build automation for provisioning, access reviews, asset reconciliation, and internal tooling that eliminates recurring manual work
- Run the endpoint and MDM program across a distributed, international workforce
- Own corporate security posture: conditional access, MFA, session and device policies, privileged access, and third-party OAuth/Workspace grant reviews
- Design and deliver practical security awareness and training programs that employees actually engage with
- Partner with security engineers who own product and infrastructure security; collaborate on identity decisions with broad impact
- Work closely with People, Finance, and Legal teams on onboarding, offboarding, spend management, and audit evidence
- Operate as a true internal service by publishing what you own, responding promptly, and proactively identifying friction before it becomes a workaround
What We're Looking For
Required Experience and Skills:
- Substantial hands-on experience owning IT or corporate engineering at a growing company, including serving as the most senior person doing the work (typically 6+ years, though we prioritize scope of ownership over tenure)
- Deep, hands-on ownership of an identity provider (Okta, Entra, JumpCloud, or similar) including SSO, SCIM, SAML, and group/entitlement modeling—beyond basic admin console work
- Practical experience running Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 as a platform
- Real MDM and endpoint management experience across macOS and ideally Windows in remote or hybrid environments
- Automation capability in at least one scripting or programming language (Python, Go, TypeScript, or similar), with comfort using APIs and identity integrations
- Experience designing access models and running access reviews, not just fulfilling requests
- Actual ownership of identity security decisions—setting MFA or conditional access policy, tightening privileged access, cleaning up third-party app grants—with ability to explain trade-offs
- Track record managing an outsourced IT provider or MSP, or clear perspective on what makes those relationships succeed or fail
- Excellent written communication skills for asynchronous, cross-team collaboration
Strongly Preferred:
- Experience in regulated or audited environments (SOC 2, PCI, banking partnerships) as the control owner rather than auditor
- Time serving as the senior security voice at a company without a dedicated security team or CISO
- Experience supporting employees and contractors across multiple countries, including device logistics and local employment platforms
- Experience at a high-growth company where you had to replace your own early processes
- Experience introducing and governing AI tooling internally with actual adoption
What Makes You a Great Fit:
- You view IT as an enablement function and can point to specific friction you've removed rather than tickets you've closed
- You write code—scripts, integrations, and automation that others depend on
- You prefer fixing processes over perfecting workarounds
- You can hold both sides honestly: you've said no to important requests and yes to things a stricter version of you would have blocked, and you can explain both decisions
- You're comfortable being the sole person in a function and articulating what you need rather than quietly absorbing extra work
- You build self-service paths so people can get what they need without going through you
- You can hold vendors accountable without damaging relationships
- You can tell senior colleagues that existing access needs to change, explain why clearly, and collaborate on workable solutions
- You remain calm when systems break and stakeholders are watching
